I have a variety of career interests - How do I know which one is right for me? Posted: 25 Apr 2006 05:38 PM |
Hello All,
I am a new addition to Appleone and this site. So far, no job leads offered to me, nor of interest to me in the Career Center. I currently hold a position as a Leasing Agent with the same employer for the last 5 years. I enjoy my job, however I am getting a little bored with it. I'd like something a little more challenging. I have worked in office like settings for over 15 years. I enjoy that atmosphere, but I am getting tired of Reception like jobs. I would like to find a job "career" that allows me to work with what I enjoy and love doing, and get away from answering phones all day. My only problem is, I have a variety of career interests that are rarely advertised and require a college degree or years of experience. My highest level of education is high school and my majors included math, art, and business. I am very artistic and creative in a variety of ways (drawing, graphic arts, crafts, digital art imaging, creating logos & slogans, ect.) with the experience of several computer programs. I also have marketing and advertising experience. In addition to all that, a Realty position is also of interest to me. All my family, friends, and even my co-workers say I would make a great Real Estate Agent. With my current part-time position, I do the most leasing in the office. Unfortunately, I don't make commission. Real Estate sounds good, but it's selling, not leasing and if you don't make a sale, you basically don't get an income. So I am a little leary to go forward in that field. And what if I don't like it? Real Estate is totally different from leasing. I'm open for any information, ideas or suggestions?

HI,
I am a Realtor. There a some questions you may ask yourself before you become a Real estae agent.
1. Are you self motivated?
2. Are you willing to be with out a check for a couple of months?
3. Are you good under pressure?
4. In a transaction there are many players you need to deal with not only buyers or sellers . You have to be good with deadlines. Are you?
5. People waste your time and knowledge . Are you patient?
6. Is this something you see yourself doing for the years to come.?
I have been doing R/E for a while. I have the personality to do it. This type of work requires you to be sweet as honey and sometimes you have to get tough with people. I LOVE THIS GAME. Despite of the heart aches and head aches I am glad I am doing it. If you look for challenges thats the carreer for you. Think it through. |
