Project Engineer

Location: South Charlotte area
Compensation: $80K+

About Us:
We are a dynamic and innovative company in the South Charlotte area seeking a skilled Project Engineer to join our team. This key role involves transforming customer-approved project specifications into detailed fabrication documents to ensure successful manufacturing. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented 3D CAD expert (preferably with experience in Autodesk Inventor or Fusion 360) and a leader within our Product Development Committee.

Position Summary:
The Project Engineer will analyze project designs and requirements, create comprehensive fabrication documents, and ensure accuracy in production information. This role also involves leading product development efforts, collaborating with various teams, and proactively identifying and resolving potential issues in project designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Fabrication Document Creation:
Analyze customer-approved project designs and requirements.
Utilize 3D CAD systems to create detailed drawings, assemblies, and bills of materials (BOMs).
Ensure compatibility and accuracy between design intent and fabrication documents.
Validate all production information (parts lists, raw material requirements, cut lists) before submitting to the Production Manager.

Product Development Leadership:
Lead product development efforts, collaborating with leadership, Project Managers, Production Managers, and vendors.
Contribute to new product development, including tooling, samples, and design refinements.
Research hardware compatibility issues and drive innovation by sourcing alternative solutions.

Project Support:
Maintain meticulous documentation and file organization for easy access by Project Managers and Production Managers.
Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure all hardware specifications meet product requirements and standards.
Identify and resolve potential issues in project designs that could impact manufacturing processes.

Minimum Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field OR equivalent work experience.
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing or product development environment.
Expertise in 3D CAD software, with a strong preference for Autodesk Inventor or Fusion 360.
Ability to understand complex designs and translate them into precise fabrication documents.
Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines.
Positive, solutions-oriented attitude; ability to collaborate with diverse teams.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to occasionally lift in excess of 20 lbs.
