Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong foundation in agriculture?

We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our client’s team. This role requires a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and a proven track record in month-end closing, financial analysis, and journal entry preparation. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Oversee month-end closing procedures, including preparation of recurring journal entries, chemical application journal entries, and medical insurance accruals.
Mentor and guide junior accountants in cash receipts, bank deposits, and coding accuracy.
Conduct in-depth balance sheet analysis and reconciliations for various accounts, including tree/vine deposits, prepaid water, payroll taxes, garnishments, insurance, rent, and others.
Investigate and provide clear explanations for budget variances through thorough research.
Analyze property taxes (secured and unsecured) for annual payments and supplemental assessments.
Prepare 571-L's (Business property statements) as required.
Contribute to special financial projects and assist Accounting Supervisor and Assistant Controller.
Provide clear and concise explanations to farm managers and accounting management.
Train junior accountants and serve as a knowledge resource.
Document business processes and accounting policies.
Proactively identify process improvement opportunities and potential accounting errors.
Demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with minimal supervision.
Utilize advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, to efficiently analyze data.
Perform all duties outlined for a Staff Accountant.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting
Strong experience in month-end closing, financial analysis, and journal entry preparation
Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
