An accounting clerk supports the day-to-day financial operations of an organization by performing various tasks such as data entry, reconciling bank statements, and processing invoices. They assist in maintaining accurate financial records, preparing basic financial reports, and handling routine clerical duties within the accounting department. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and proficiency in relevant accounting software are critical for an accounting clerk to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial transactions. This role often involves collaborating with other team members and providing necessary support for the smooth functioning of the accounting processes.
Duties?/?Responsibilities:
Operate computers programmed with accounting software to record, store, and analyze information.
Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
Classify, record, and summarize numerical and financial data to compile and keep financial records using journals, ledgers, or computers.
Debit, credit, and total accounts on computer spreadsheets and databases using specialized accounting software.
Operate 10-key calculators and copy machines to perform calculations and produce documents.
Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Compile statistical, financial, accounting, or auditing reports and tables regarding cash receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, and profits and losses.
Code documents according to company procedures.
Reconcile or note and report discrepancies found in records.
