Position Overview:
On-site role Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, The Accounting Manager will lead all day-to-day finance/accounting operations, supervising a team of finance staff members, including functional responsibility over general ledger transaction activity, general accounting, grants accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, revenue recognition protocols, and Fund and donation administration.
The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for oversight and management of all finance, accounting, and reporting activities for the company as a tax-exempt 501 (3) (C) non-profit organization. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.) • Oversee all operating accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements.
• Manage all accounting functions, including Billing, A/P, and Grants Accounting.
• Support month-end and year-end close process.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting by developing business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenues and disbursements of costs, and maintain visibility in reporting formats highlighting program budgets vs actual activity.
• Coordinate worksheet preparation and development, supporting all required tax filings.
• Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner.
• Assist the CFO in the annual budgeting and planning process and rolling quarterly forecasting process. Keep current monthly reporting active and timely, highlighting actual results vs Budget and associated variances.
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.
• Assist with special projects/initiatives as needed.
• Other duties may be required as needed.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• CPA license preferred or working to be eligible to sit for the exam.
• At least 15 years of experience in the accounting field managing an accounting department.
• Audit background and experience preferred.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs.
• Effective interpersonal skills. Well organized and attentive to detail.
• Effective problem resolution.
• Strong computer skills. (ADP workforce now, MIP funding software, Excel)
