Full job description
Established Sacramento trust and estate law firm is looking to grow its litigation team by adding an experienced Associate Attorney with at least three years of litigation experience. The firm provides a high level of representation in trust and estate matters, covering the full spectrum of estate law from basic estate planning through complex administration and litigation.

Roles and Goals:
We are seeking an Associate Attorney to work closely with the shareholders as part of the trust and estate litigation team. The Associate Attorney will be given a high level of individual responsibility to carry matters through from inception to closure and will work directly under the supervision of one of the firm’s shareholder.
An ideal candidate for this position would have 3-5 years’ prior litigation experience with a focus of trust/estate experience, strong personal and professional references, and have a caring and genuine personality.

Essential Duties
· Conduct comprehensive factual investigations and legal research
· Propound and answer written discovery
· Prepare for and conduct depositions
· Prepare persuasive, internal memoranda, pleadings and briefs
· Present oral argument
· Assist in negotiations, mediations, trial preparation, trials and appeals

Additional Duties:
· Work cooperatively with partners, senior associates, paralegals, secretaries, and other staff
· Learn to manage client expectations and help clients recognize, develop and pursue objectives in the clients’ best interest
· Participate in the broader professional business community

Required Experience and Education:
· Juris Doctorate degree
· Be in good standing as attorney with the State Bar of California
· 3-5 years’ experience as a litigator and/or an attorney with a Trust and Estate practice, or equivalent experience.
· Must possess excellent analytical, writing and oral skills.

Compensation Structure
Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience and based on 1,600-1,800 billable hour commitments. In addition to base pay and bonus structures, we offer medical benefits, flex PTO and 401k matching.
