Certified Payroll Specialist Needed! $30-$38 hourly Bakersfield, CA We're seeking a meticulous and reliable Certified Payroll Specialist to join our dynamic team! In this crucial role, you'll be the go-to person for all things payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payments for employees across two companies, while navigating prevailing wage and union complexities. You'll report directly to the Corporate Controller and collaborate with other departments to maintain smooth financial operations. Responsibilities: Process bi-weekly payroll for both companies, adhering to prevailing wage and union contract regulations (experience required!). Mastermind payroll data using Timberline/Sage software, accounting for prevailing wage rates and union benefits. Ensure smooth employee payments through printing checks, distributing them, or uploading direct deposits. Manage payroll taxes, garnishments, and timely submissions, all while complying with prevailing wage and union regulations. Upload Certified Payroll data to the DIR website and maintain prevailing wage compliance. Process and handle monthly/quarterly reports for health insurance, workers' compensation, union benefits, and prevailing wage calculations. Keep Certified Payroll rates within Timberline software up-to-date based on prevailing wage determinations. Prepare and submit comprehensive payroll reports, including those specific to prevailing wage and union requirements. Verify employment upon request and maintain accurate employee files. Answer payroll questions from colleagues and staff, demonstrating ownership, clear communication, and in-depth knowledge of prevailing wage and union rules. Be prepared to tackle additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of experience performing payroll functions. Proven track record of handling prevailing wage and union payroll complexities. Certified Payroll Specialist designation a plus. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and time management skills.
