Estimating Manager – Railway and Concrete Construction

We are seeking an experienced Estimator Manager with a strong background in railway and concrete construction to lead our estimating team. This role is crucial in driving the accuracy and profitability of our project bids, ensuring our company delivers competitive and precise cost estimates across large-scale infrastructure projects.

Position Overview:
The Estimator Manager will oversee all estimating functions for railway and concrete construction projects, coordinating with internal teams to ensure comprehensive cost analyses. This role requires a detail-oriented leader with deep industry knowledge who can manage multiple estimates concurrently and collaborate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the estimating team, setting priorities and assigning tasks to ensure accurate and timely project estimates.
- Oversee the preparation of detailed cost estimates for railway and concrete construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments on bids, identifying potential challenges and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Analyze historical data, perform cost forecasting, and stay updated on industry trends to improve accuracy and competitiveness of estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and field teams to ensure estimates align with project requirements and budgets.
- Review bid documents, blueprints, and specifications to develop accurate scopes of work and comprehensive project takeoffs.
- Engage with clients and subcontractors to clarify project needs, negotiate pricing, and strengthen relationships.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the estimating department to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
- Prepare and present bid proposals to executive management, detailing project costs, timelines, and risks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, standards, and company policies throughout the estimating process.

Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating for railway and concrete construction projects, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Deep understanding of the railway and concrete construction industries, including industry standards, materials, and processes.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in cost estimation and budgeting.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as ProEst, HCSS HeavyBid, or similar, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal teams, clients, and subcontractors.
- High level of attention to detail, organization, and the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to handling project challenges and deadlines.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
- Primarily office-based with occasional travel to project sites and client meetings as needed.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines, including occasional extended hours to meet project needs.
