OA Reference: General Ledger Accountant
Our client is a is a dynamic agricultural company with a strong commitment to sustainable farming practices and innovation. They are seeking a talented and detail-oriented General Ledger Accountant to join their team. This role will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records across multiple entities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing valuable financial insights.
Responsibilities:
General Ledger Maintenance:
Prepare and post journal entries for various transactions, including accruals, deferrals, and adjustments.
Reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Maintain and update the chart of accounts as needed.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Analyze financial data and identify trends or anomalies.
Prepare ad-hoc reports as requested by management.
Account Analysis and Reconciliation:
Perform detailed account analysis to identify and resolve discrepancies.
Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Prepare and analyze monthly reconciliations.
Inter company Transactions:
Process and reconcile intercompany transactions between multiple entities.
Ensure accurate allocation of costs and revenues.
Tax Compliance:
Assist with the preparation of various tax returns, including sales tax and property tax.
Stay updated on tax laws and regulations.
System and Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency.
Implement new accounting systems and tools as needed.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and formulas
Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage Intacct)
Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong organizational and time management skills
Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
