We are actively hiring an in-house patent paralegal eager to play a crucial role in supporting a leading manufacturer of popular consumer and industrial brands. The company has celebrated 140 years of success and employs more than 53,000 people globally. The ideal candidate will be reporting to Senior Patent Counsel and will support patent counsel for various locations (including CT, NJ, and MI) in providing legal services for the company
Responsibilities
Work with the Law departments and other departments within the organization as well as outside counsel
Perform patent docketing and patent filings
Communicate with outside counsel and foreign agents, business partners, and scientists; manage various dockets; train personnel in patent procedures.
Become familiar with and use the company's global contract management system to retrieve and review various agreements as requested
Attend weekly, biweekly, monthly team meetings to discuss and align on short-term and long-term projects
Work with Litigation team on any matters related to patents or trade secrets
Requirements
At least five (5) years related law firm or in-house experience in Patent law
Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams) and a willingness to learn other systems, including proprietary contract management system
Patent law firm or in-house experience, with patent docketing and/or management experience
Possess professionalism with colleagues and while representing the company with outside counsel
Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and take initiative
Have the ability to manage and prioritize a demanding workload from various locations
Detail oriented and organized
A self-starter with an innovative mindset
Work with strict deadlines
Bachelor’s degree and paralegal certificate or equivalent experience required
Notary public certification a plus
