A well-established law firm in Palmetto Bay is seeking an experienced and strategic Legal Billing Manager to lead its billing operations. This role ensures accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness in all invoicing processes. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in legal billing, strong leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex billing scenarios.
Key Responsibilities of the Legal Billing Manager:
Billing Process Management:
Oversee the full billing cycle, including pre-bills, final invoices, adjustments, and month-end closing.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of all invoices before client submission.
Develop and implement billing policies and procedures for efficiency and accuracy.
Team Leadership:
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of billing specialists.
Ensure workload distribution meets deadlines in collaboration with supervisors.
Attorney & Client Collaboration:
Partner with attorneys to ensure accurate timekeeping and billing entries.
Address client billing inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
Provide attorneys with reports and analysis related to matter billing.
Process Improvement & Reporting:
Identify and implement process improvements to streamline operations.
Assist in the rollout of new billing software and tools.
Provide insights and recommendations based on billing data to support financial planning.
Oversee billing collections and manage follow-ups on outstanding invoices.
Qualifications for the Legal Billing Manager Role:
? Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
? 5+ years of legal billing experience, including 2+ years in a managerial role.
? Proficiency in legal billing software (e.g., Elite, Aderant, or similar platforms).
? Strong understanding of legal billing practices, time entry, and fee arrangements.
? Excellent leadership, analytical, and team management skills.
? Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
? Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
? High level of integrity and professionalism.
Preferred Qualifications:
? Experience with e-billing systems and client billing portals.
? Knowledge of law firm operations and financial management.
? Certification in billing or finance-related fields (e.g., Certified Billing Specialist).
