The Bilingual Medical Front Office Clerk is the first point of contact for our patients and visitors. This role involves a variety of administrative tasks, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, managing patient records, handling insurance verification, and processing payments. The ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is essential for providing exceptional service to our diverse patient population.
Responsibilities:
Greet patients and visitors in a warm and welcoming manner, ensuring a positive first impression.
Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage the appointment calendar efficiently.
Verify patient insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations.
Collect patient co-pays and process payments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, both electronic and physical.
Prepare charts for upcoming appointments.
Manage incoming and outgoing mail and faxes.
Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other staff members in both English and Spanish.
Explain medical procedures and instructions to patients in a clear and understandable manner in both English and Spanish.
Translate documents and conversations as needed.
Ensure the front office area is clean, organized, and well-stocked with supplies.
Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical front office setting preferred.
Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken) is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
Certification in medical assisting or a related field.
