We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Defense Paralegal to join our legal team. The ideal candidate will support attorneys in defending civil litigation matters, providing critical assistance throughout the legal process, from pre-suit investigations to trial preparation. This role requires strong organizational skills, knowledge of legal procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist attorneys in managing and organizing case files, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
Conduct legal research and prepare case summaries, motions, pleadings, and discovery responses.
Coordinate with clients, witnesses, experts, and opposing counsel regarding case matters.
Prepare and respond to subpoenas, interrogatories, and other discovery requests.
Perform e-filing in state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with court rules and deadlines.
Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling hearings, depositions, and meetings.
Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing trial binders, and coordinating logistics.
Handle administrative tasks such as timekeeping, correspondence, and billing.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a paralegal role, preferably in defense litigation.
Proficiency in legal research tools (e.g., LexisNexis, Westlaw) and case management software.
Strong understanding of legal terminology, court procedures, and applicable laws.
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities with a keen eye for detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and e-filing systems.
