Job Opportunity: Payroll Coordinator
Location: Winnsboro, SC
Pay: $20–$25/hour (Temporary-to-Permanent Opportunity)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9 AM–5 PM
Our staffing agency is partnering with a state department in Winnsboro, SC, to fill a Payroll Coordinator role. This position starts as a long-term temporary role with the option to apply for a full-time position (FTE) with the department.
About the Role:
As a Payroll Coordinator, you will work under limited supervision to support the Finance Department with payroll processing and related administrative duties. Your role will ensure accuracy, compliance, and smooth payroll operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Process payroll using the County’s automated payroll system, ensuring accuracy in time, overtime, leave pay, and deductions.
Submit payroll reports and electronic transactions to financial institutions and governmental agencies.
Maintain and reconcile confidential employee records, including vacation and sick leave accruals, insurance payments, and payroll deductions.
Assist employees with payroll-related inquiries and deduction changes.
Interpret and apply County policies and federal/state regulations affecting payroll.
Provide administrative support to the Finance Department, including preparing reports and correspondence.
Stay updated on relevant laws and regulations by attending training sessions.
Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.
Experience: 2–3 years of payroll administration experience and familiarity with automated time management software.
A combination of equivalent education and experience will be considered.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
