Job Title: Payroll Supervisor
Location: San Leandro, CA
Position Type: Direct Hire
Salary: $115K
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage a team of 5 Payroll Specialists with a focus on back-office accounting functions related to payroll.
• Oversee semi-monthly, multi-state payroll processing, time tracking, and payroll tax compliance.
• Review payroll calculations for accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Supervise payroll input, processing, and paycheck distribution.
• Ensure timely payroll tax deposits, quarterly and annual filings (including W-2s).
• Manage payroll deductions, insurance premiums, and worker compensation reconciliations.
• Oversee compliance with prevailing wage, federal, state, and local regulations.
• Provide general ledger expertise and assist with payroll journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
• Assist in payroll audits, internal controls, and process improvements.
• Collaborate with HR on union contract compliance and benefits administration.
• Maintain confidentiality and ensure secure payroll operations.
Qualifications:
• Education: Associate’s Degree in Accounting or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years of payroll processing experience, 3+ years in a supervisory role, preferably in a multi-division/multi-company environment.
• Skills: Strong payroll financial accounting knowledge, multi-tasking ability, and attention to detail.
• Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.
• Systems: Experience with ADP and Workday is beneficial but not required.
