We are looking for a Senior Estimator for a commercial construction company in Orlando, FL

On site – Orlando, FL 32819

Pay: $100,000 and up – benefits provided

Direct Hire role

Responsible for deciding the projected time frame needed to complete a project and additional factors like labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential setbacks. Duties include communicating with personnel and contractual professionals or vendors, utilizing company software to weigh production risks or compile reports and making presentations to upper management outlining their suggestions for potential projects to bid. Prepares complete estimates for project(s) being bid either directly or through subordinate personnel. This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
• Contributes to project pre-plans by assisting in the establishment of objectives, procedures, and performance standards within boundaries of corporate policy.
• Review’s proposal specifications and drawings, attends pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
• Distributes scopes of work to trade contractors or vendors for projects being bid.
• Manages estimating department to ensure calculations are for a complete takeoff of scope of work.
• Manages total estimating effort relevant to bid/project as assigned or agreed upon.
• Thoroughly reviews project documents and leads the Prebid RFI process as needed.
• Resolves problems amongst Estimating Team.
• Analyze required documents, blueprints, and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the project being bid.
• Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product to gain a competitive advantage.
• Prepares material estimates and cost estimated for the product or service including the labor needed to complete the project.
• Develops and maintains relationships with company vendors, contractors, and existing or potential clients.
• Manages and levels bids from vendors and contractors for accuracy and total coverage of all areas is responsible for.
• Use bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis.
• Present prepared estimates to upper management as required or requested.
• Responsible for continuously expanding and updating professional knowledge and training skills to enhance individual and team innovation and productivity.
• Assumes additional responsibilities as directed by the President, Vice President, or Director of Operations.
• Coordinate with office manager on office policy and procedures
• Assists in business development, as required.
• Any complaints from estimating department about Project Management Team and Field Staff/Support are to be reported to the Director of Operations immediately.

Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience:
• Four-year construction/engineering degree or equivalent, plus a minimum of 5 years’ experience/knowledge of construction estimating, design, finance and management required.
• Must be able to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize employee performance.
• Thorough understanding of corporate and industry practices, processes, standards, etc. and their impact on project activities important.
• Working knowledge of computer system and software.
• Good communication and interpersonal (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.) skills.
