Our client is looking to hire a Shipping and Receiving Clerk. This role involves tasks such as receiving shipments, inspecting products, organizing inventory, and preparing orders for shipment, ensuring that products are delivered to customers or other parts of the business on time and in excellent condition.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Receiving Shipments:
o Unload incoming shipments, verify the contents against purchase orders or shipping documents to ensure accuracy.
o Inspect received items for damage or discrepancies and report any issues to the appropriate departments or vendors.
o Record and process the receipt of materials, parts, or finished products in inventory systems.
o Maintain proper documentation for received goods, including packing slips, invoices, and inspection reports.
2. Inventory Management:
o Organize and store received products or raw materials in designated areas in the warehouse or facility.
o Update inventory records to reflect received goods and materials, ensuring stock levels are accurate.
o Assist in inventory counts, cycle counts, or annual physical inventories to maintain accurate stock records.
o Ensure that inventory is stored safely and in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
3. Order Fulfillment and Shipping:
o Prepare outgoing shipments by picking, packing, and labeling items for delivery to customers or other business locations.
o Verify shipping information, including addresses, quantities, and any special handling requirements, to ensure accurate delivery.
o Load products onto trucks, vans, or other transport vehicles, ensuring that products are securely packed and ready for transportation.
o Coordinate with shipping carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments as needed.
o Prepare shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, shipping labels, customs forms, and delivery receipts.
4. Quality Control and Documentation:
o Inspect the condition of goods before shipping, ensuring products meet quality standards and are free from defects or damages.
o Maintain accurate records for both incoming and outgoing shipments, ensuring all paperwork is completed correctly and filed appropriately.
o Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations regarding shipping and receiving practices.
5. Communication and Coordination:
o Communicate with internal departments (such as procurement, production, and sales) regarding order status, inventory levels, and shipping schedules.
o Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, and freight carriers to ensure timely and accurate deliveries.
o Handle customer returns, exchanges, or discrepancies related to shipments or orders, coordinating with customer service when necessary.
6. Equipment and Safety:
o Follow all health and safety regulations and company policies related to shipping, receiving, and warehouse operations.
o Assist in maintaining a clean and organized warehouse environment.
7. Warehouse Organization and Maintenance:
o Ensure that the shipping and receiving areas are well-organized, with products and materials stored properly.
o Perform routine maintenance checks on shipping and receiving equipment and report any maintenance issues.
o Organize and label inventory locations to improve the efficiency of inventory management and order fulfillment.
Education and Training:
High School Diploma or GED
3+ years experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations in a manufacturing or industrial setting desired.
