Title: Senior Estimator

Position Objective
The Senior Estimator is responsible for determining the projected timeframes, labor needs, materials, budgets, and potential challenges for construction projects. This role involves collaborating with internal teams, external contractors, and vendors, utilizing company software to assess risks, generate reports, and provide presentations to senior management regarding potential project bids. The Senior Estimator prepares comprehensive estimates for projects, either independently or with the help of subordinate staff, and reports directly to the Director of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Contribute to project pre-planning by helping establish objectives, procedures, and performance standards, ensuring alignment with corporate policies.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, and attend pre-bid meetings to assess the scope of work and estimate requirements.
• Distribute scopes of work to trade contractors and vendors for bids on assigned projects.
• Lead the estimating department to ensure accurate calculations for a complete scope of work.
• Oversee the total estimating effort for each bid/project, as assigned.
• Review project documents thoroughly and lead the Prebid RFI process as necessary.
• Resolve issues within the Estimating Team to ensure smooth operations.
• Analyze project documents, blueprints, and plans to fully understand the project's scope and cost factors.
• Identify key production factors that affect the cost of a project to ensure competitive bidding.
• Prepare material and cost estimates, including labor requirements for project completion.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, contractors, and clients.
• Evaluate and ensure the accuracy of vendor and contractor bids, ensuring full coverage of responsibilities.
• Use bid data to create detailed cost analyses.
• Present estimates to senior management as required or requested.
• Continuously enhance professional knowledge and skills to drive innovation and improve team performance.
• Assume additional responsibilities as directed by the President, Vice President, or Director of Operations.
• Collaborate with the office manager to ensure alignment with office policies and procedures.
• Support business development efforts as needed.
• Report any concerns raised by the Estimating Department regarding the Project Management Team or Field Staff/Support to the Director of Operations promptly.
Qualifications and Experience:
• A four-year degree in construction, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, design, finance, and management.
• Proven ability to apply effective management techniques to optimize team performance.
• In-depth understanding of industry practices, standards, and processes, and their impact on project activities.
• Proficient in using computer systems and estimating software.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams.
