Short Description:

A Manufacturing Technician is responsible for operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting equipment used in the production process to ensure efficient and high-quality output. They follow detailed specifications and safety protocols to assemble, test, or modify products, and conduct inspections to identify and resolve issues. This role may also involve documenting processes, collaborating with engineers to improve production methods, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work as part of a team are essential for success in this position.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to all applicable health, safety, and environmental compliance regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Inspect finished products for quality and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Set up and operate production equipment following current good manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures.
  • Calibrate or adjust equipment to ensure quality production using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, protractors, or ring gauges.
  • Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust production processes or equipment for quality and productivity.
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products.
  • Test products or subassemblies for functionality or quality.
  • Plan and lay out work to meet production and schedule requirements.
  • Start up and shut down processing equipment.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Operation Monitoring: Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure a machine works correctly.
  • Critical Thinking: Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Reading Comprehension: Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
  • Active Listening: Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what maintenance is needed.
  • Monitoring: Monitoring/assessing the performance of yourself, other individuals, or organizations to make improvements or take corrective action.
  • Complex Problem Solving: Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Operation and Control: Controlling functions of equipment or systems.
  • Quality Control Analysis: Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Repairing: Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
