Short Description:

A Commercial Lender is responsible for evaluating, approving, and managing loans for businesses, helping them secure financing for operations, expansion, or investments. Their duties include analyzing financial statements, assessing creditworthiness, structuring loan terms, and ensuring compliance with banking regulations. Commercial Lenders work closely with clients to understand their business needs and provide tailored financial solutions. Strong financial analysis, communication, and relationship-building skills are essential for success in this role, as Commercial Lenders play a critical part in fostering business growth while managing risk for the bank.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Generate new business through loans, business accounts, and services.
  • Originate or recommend commercial, industrial, and commercial real estate loans within the limits of lending authority and in compliance with regulations and policy.
  • Analyze and review financial statements, accounts, and related data for new and potential existing customers.
  • Negotiate and recommend credit terms, costs, loan repayment strategies, and collateral specifications.
  • Providing services and maintaining accounts for existing customers, ensuring terms of loans and financial conditions of borrowers adhere to policy parameters.
  • Evaluate prospective customers and loan requests and make recommendations to management.
  • Expand existing business and develop new business through service and cross-selling, customer calls, networking, and the development of referrals.
  • Manage assigned loan workout cases and Other Real Estate Owned (OREO) properties to ensure maximum recovery of assets placed for collection.
  • Assist in the development of commercial lending goals, strategies, and products.
  • Maintain current knowledge of industry regulations, compliance issues, and bank policies.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or equivalent career experience.
  • Practical Knowledge: Applicable laws, regulations, and documentation relating to the commercial lending activity.
  • Technical Experience: Experience in analyzing financial data.
  • Software: Ability to work in a Microsoft Office environment and with industry software.
  • Communication: Proficiency in written and verbal communication.
  • Compliance: Adhere to compliance with all applicable Federal and State bank regulations.
