Short Description:

A Data Architect analyzes and documents an organization's data assets, maps how data flows through its systems, and provides a blueprint for managing data. They then collect and organize the data obtained. Data Architects use their training in analytics and various coding programs to analyze information and draw conclusions based on their findings.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert data modeling and validation services that produce flexible, extensible data structure design solutions that support effective business decisions.
  • Map entities to use cases and business requirements and assist in developing data services.
  • Create and manage data design deliverables, including data models, diagrams, flows, and corresponding data dictionary documentation.
  • Develop standards for database design and implementation of various strategic data architecture initiatives around master data management, data quality, data management policies/standards, data governance, and metadata management.
  • Serve as an advocate for the data architecture team and data management discipline, policies, and standards across the enterprise.
  • Assist in determining the effectiveness of existing technologies and processes concerning the data architecture, create necessary implementation/migration plans, and recommend new solutions as required.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Data Architects must have a bachelor's degree in information systems, computer science, or computer engineering.
  • Experience: Data Architects should have at least five years of experience in information technology. Experience as a Database Administrator, Data Manager or Data Scientist is preferred, though experience in development or programming is also valuable.
  • Math Skills: Strong math and analytical skills are essential to complete job requirements successfully
  • Statistics: Able to compile and organize statistical information retrieved and present findings to management
  • Computer Skills: Strong computer skills and ability to use necessary databases and software
