Short Description:

A Network Security Administrator is responsible for protecting an organization’s network infrastructure from cyber threats. This includes configuring, monitoring, and maintaining firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security tools. They manage access controls, conduct vulnerability assessments, and respond to security incidents. The role requires collaboration with IT teams to ensure data protection, compliance with industry regulations, and the implementation of best practices for network security. Additionally, they stay informed about emerging threats and adapt security measures accordingly.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Identify the need for IT system changes based on new security technologies or threats.
  • Manage technical requirements specific to redesigning the existing architecture, which includes configuring and implementing a scalable enterprise infrastructure and communicating needs to senior management, both technical and non-technical.
  • Plans, engineers, and monitors the security arrangements for the protection of the network systems.
  • Disaster Recovery & Backup
  • Identify, monitor, and define the system's overall security requirements.
  • Create different ways to solve the existing threats and security issues.
  • Configure and implement intrusion detection systems and firewalls.
  • Test and check the system for weaknesses in software and hardware.
  • Maintain firewalls, virtual private networks (VPN), web protocols, and email security.
  • Create virus and threat detection systems.
  • Troubleshoot LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi connectivity
  • Configure and install security infrastructure devices.
  • Investigate intrusion and hacking incidents, collect incident responses, and conduct forensic investigations.
  • Determine the latest technologies and processes that improve the system's overall security.
  • Use industry-standard analysis criteria to test the security level of the firm.
  • Develop tracking documents to note system vulnerabilities.
  • Report the security analysis and monitoring findings.
  • Supervise the configuration and installation of new software and hardware.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in computer science or information systems.
  • Experience: Four (4) years of experience in network/security administration roles.
  • Certification: Microsoft Certified Information Technology Professional (MCITP), CompTIA Security+, or other industry-recognized information technology certification in information security, network engineering, or system administration.
  • Miscellaneous: Intermediate to advanced skills and expertise with firewalls. Intermediate to advanced skills and expertise with web content and application filtering. Advanced expert skills and expertise with MS Active Directory. Intermediate to advanced skills and expertise in incident response.
