Short Description:

A Scrum Master helps oversee the Scrum and development team. They are knowledgeable in Agile methodology and Scrum and can educate others. They also act as a buffer between the Scrum team and the product owner and maintain a safe working environment for the team by helping with conflict resolution.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Guides and coaches the Scrum team on using Agile practices and principles to deliver high-quality products and services to our customers.
  • Gets team to a high-performing level by recognizing areas of strength and improvement and employing appropriate coaching and development techniques.
  • Responsible for ensuring Scrum is understood and the team adheres to Scrum theory, practice, and guidelines.
  • Coaches the Scrum team in self-organization, cross-functional skillset, domain knowledge, and communicates effectively, internally and externally, working within the Scrum team.
  • Works with Scrum team and internal and external stakeholders to influence and drive decision-making and support the organizational project or product teams.
  • Resolves team impediments with other Scrum Masters to increase the effectiveness of the application of Scrum in the organization.
  • Works with Agile coaches and other Scrum Masters to grow within the role.
  • Facilitates and supports all Scrum events: Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Review, and Sprint Retrospective.
  • Coaches and supports Agile teams assigned to mainly Business as Usual (BAU) work and, to a lesser degree, essential department initiatives and applicable portions of corporate projects and initiatives.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree: in business administration, management information systems, computer science, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience: 9-12 years of experience with technology or the financial services industry is preferred. 5+ Years of Experience as a Scrum Master for large teams (12+ people). 2+ years of technical background is required to understand the day-to-day challenges of the group.
  • Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including Waterfall and Agile methodologies. Understanding, analyzing, and communicating technical designs, issues, and status are required. Experience supporting customer-facing, high-volume, mission-critical applications is strongly preferred. Demonstrate ability to manage project commitments to achieve quality solutions effectively. Demonstrate ability to manage and lead project resources.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Project Management Professional (PMP) or Scrum Master (CSM) certification
