Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Tax Accountant to oversee the review of tax returns and financial records, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory standards. This role focuses on the review process, not tax preparation, and requires advanced expertise in taxation across various forms and entities. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Return Review: Evaluate prepared tax returns for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Returns include but are not limited to forms individual, corporations, s-corporations, Schedules E and C, 1099, nonprofit filings, and dividends-related returns.
Quality Assurance: Ensure financial records, including books and taxes, meet professional and legal standards, provide constructive feedback to preparers as needed.
Software Proficiency: Utilize QuickBooks and Drake software for reviewing tax records and ensuring data accuracy.
Compliance & Updates: Stay updated on current tax laws and regulations, implementing necessary changes to maintain compliance across all reviewed accounts.
Documentation: Maintain meticulous records of all reviewed files and provide summaries or recommendations to leadership.
Qualifications:
8 Years experience in individual and business taxation, including Schedule 1040, 1120, E, C, 1099, nonprofit filings, and dividend-related returns.
Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting
Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent communication skills for internal team collaboration (not customer-facing).
Ability to manage time effectively while working in a fully remote environment.
Proven track record of maintaining high standards in tax compliance and accuracy.
