A Billing Manager oversees the billing operations of an organization, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of invoices and payments. Their responsibilities include managing a team of billing clerks, resolving complex billing issues, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies. Billing Managers also analyze billing processes for efficiency improvements, prepare financial reports, and collaborate with other departments to maintain accurate financial records. Strong leadership skills, attention to detail, and expertise in billing systems are essential for success in this role, as Billing Managers ensure smooth and efficient billing operations that support the organization’s financial health.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Verify the accuracy of billing data and revise any errors.
  • Operate typing, adding, calculating, or billing machines.
  • Prepare itemized statements, bills, or invoices and record amounts due for items purchased or services rendered.
  • Review documents such as purchase orders, sales tickets, charge slips, or hospital records to compute fees or charges due.
  • Perform bookkeeping work, including posting data or keeping other records concerning costs of goods or services or the shipment of goods.
  • Keep records of invoices and support documents.
  • Resolve discrepancies in accounting records.
  • Type billing documents, shipping labels, credit memorandums, and credit forms.
  • Contact customers to obtain or relay account information.
  • Compute credit terms, discounts, shipment charges, or rates for goods or services to complete billing documents.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Economics and Accounting: Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, financial markets, banking, and reporting of financial data.
  • Law and Government: Knowledge of laws, legal codes, court procedures, precedents, government regulations, executive orders, agency rules, and the democratic political process.
  • Mathematics: Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Accounting Software: Accurate NXG; Blackbaud The Financial Edge; Flex
