Short Description:

A Graphic Designer creates visual content for various media to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate audiences. They use design software to develop layouts, logos, and other graphic elements that align with a brand's identity and project objectives. The role involves collaborating with clients and teams to understand project requirements and make revisions as needed to meet deadlines. Strong creativity, attention to detail, and proficiency in design tools are essential for producing high-quality work.

Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Create designs, concepts, and sample layouts based on knowledge of layout principles and esthetic design concepts.
  • Determine the size and arrangement of illustrative material and copy, and select style and size of type.
  • Confer with clients to discuss and determine layout design.
  • Develop graphics and layouts for product illustrations, company logos, and Internet websites.
  • Review final layouts and suggest improvements as needed.
  • Prepare illustrations or rough sketches of material, discussing them with clients or supervisors and making necessary changes.
  • Use computer software to generate new images.
  • Critical information into computer equipment to create layouts for clients or supervisors.
  • Maintain archive of images, photos, or previous work products.
  • Prepare notes and instructions for workers who assemble and prepare final layouts for printing.

Skills / Requirements / Qualifications

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Communication Design, or a related field is typically required.
  • Proficiency in Design Software: Expertise in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other graphic design software.
  • Creativity and Artistic Ability: Strong creativity and an eye for visual aesthetics, with the ability to conceptualize and create compelling designs.
  • Experience in Design Projects: Demonstrated experience through internships, freelance work, or prior employment, showcasing a portfolio of completed design projects.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail to ensure designs meet specifications, are visually appealing, and maintain brand consistency.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with clients and team members, and presenting design concepts.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines while maintaining quality.
  • Understanding of Design Principles: Knowledge of typography, color theory, composition, and branding, with an understanding of how to apply these principles effectively.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing design needs, feedback, and revisions from clients or project stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Web Design and UX/UI: Familiarity with basic web design principles, user experience (UX), and user interface (UI) design, especially for digital projects.
  • Computer-Aided Design CAD Software: Autodesk AutoCAD; Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D; Autodesk Revit; Bentley MicroStation 
  • Desktop Publishing Software: Adobe Systems Adobe Distiller; Adobe Systems Adobe InDesign; Microsoft Publisher; QuarkXPress
